Easy Basic Play Dough Recipe
Most of the recipes listed below start with a base recipe that uses simple home ingredients.
You’ll need:
- 2 cups of flour
- 1 cup of salt
- 2 cups of water
- 2 Tbsp of vegetable oil
- 1 Tbsp cream of tartar
- food colouring (gel food colouring works so much better than liquid)
Simply mix water, oil and food colouring together in a pot on medium heat. Add in flour, salt and cream of tartar and mix together. Continue to mix until the play dough pulls away from the edge of the pot. Let it cool on the counter, then knead several times.
Once your play dough is cool, it’s ready to be used. I highly recommend adding tools (these ones are fantastic!) to the play dough so your kids can use them to make awesome play dough creations!
