Now that my second baby is here, I am so excited to bust out my newborn cloth diaper collection. I LOVE using cloth diapers and nothing nothing nothing is cuter than itsy-bitsy cloth! Today is the first of my cloth diaper review series and I will be reviewing the Blueberry Mini Deluxe Pocket Diaper. Finding newborn cloth diapers can be tricky in terms of fit and absorbency, but if you invest in the right diapers, it is worth so worth it (especially when you are changing 10-12+ diapers a day)! I am excited to review my all-time favorite newborn diaper today, the Blueberry Mini Deluxe Pocket Diaper.
I was not compensated for this review and all my opinions are my own.
Blueberry Mini Deluxe Newborn Cloth Diaper
I originally purchased the Blueberry Mini Deluxe Pocket Diaper four years ago in preparation for my first baby. It is a newborn pocket diaper for babies up to 16 lbs (I found I could continue using it well past 16 lbs and it was a staple of my cloth diaper stash for most of Hannah’s first year). The diaper has a waterproof outer layer, a stay-dry micro-fleece interior and a three layer micro-terry insert. It is a snap diaper and comes in a number of different colours and prints. Blueberry no longer sells these, but they still float around on B/S/T diaper sites, so I wanted to do a review. It is worth keeping an eye out for!

Fit
The Blueberry Mini Deluxe diaper has an adjustable rise on this diaper so you can shorten/lengthen the rise as your baby grows. Even when both girls were very tiny, I always could get a good fit with this diaper. I’ve never had a leak with this diaper!
Absorbency
The Blueberry Mini Deluxe diaper insert is made from micro-terry and is decently absorbent, but like all synthetic materials, the absorbency is not super. The great thing about this pocket diaper is that you can add an insert easily. The diaper is also big enough to fit an insert with no problem. I’ve used AMP bamboo inserts without any problem. Sometimes I take out the micro-terry altogether and just leave an full-sized insert, which fits perfectly.
Trimness
Obviously with a pocket diaper, trimness depends on what kind of insert you use. With the micro-terry insert, I would say the trimness of the Blueberry Mini Deluxe diaper is average. With an extra insert, it is a little bulkier, but I’ll take bulkiness for good absorbency! I think the main benefit of this diaper is it is comparable to the average newborn diaper, but expands to fit a much larger baby than newborn diapers that only go up to 12 lbs. I have yet to find another newborn diaper that can do the same!
Appearance
Blueberry gets bonus points for their ADORABLE prints! They are my absolute favorite diaper company because of their sweet prints as well as their quality diapers. They have a large variety of prints and I have too many favorites to list. Check them out and you’ll definitely be able to find a print for you.
Price
The downside is that these diapers are no longer being manufactured (here’s a review of my second favorite newborn diaper, also from Blueberry). HOWEVER, if you can score one on a B/S/T cloth diaper group, or on e-Bay, you definitely should! The one I bought four years ago was about $25.00 CDN. This diaper has a greater weight range (up to 16 lbs and beyond), so you will be able to continue using it for most of baby’s first year, making its higher price well worth it, in my opinion!
The Blueberry Mini Deluxe is an amazing and versatile diaper for a newborn. Its amazing fit will transition with your baby and is useable for months. The pocket diaper style lets you adjust the absorbency to match your baby’s need. You will fall in love with the adorable Blueberry prints. All in all, it’s a winner that is worth searching for!

It seems like you really get a good use out of this diaper! And thank you for linking to your blog post of what to do with the poop! That’s something that stops a lot of moms from using cloth diapers.
Thanks! It’s a great diaper!
This is a great review. I’ve never taken the plunge into cloth diapers, and now that we’ve alreadt done three kids, I don’t think I’d invest for a round four (if we even go for four lol). But if I was closer to the beginning of our baby journey, I’d definitely consider it.
Thanks Charissa! We actually found we saved quite a bit of money on diapers even with just our first. Plus, you can sell them once you’re done potty-training.
Super cute design. I’ve been considering switching to cloth this was helpful!
I know, I love all their prints! Using cloth was one of my best parenting decisions. I would recommend it to anyone! Let me know if you have any questions or want more info! 🙂
