Like many of you, Easter has been on my mind this year. With the circumstances surrounding this Easter, I want to make sure it’s a special holiday with my girls. Like so many families, we’ll be missing Easter dinner with our extending family.
My go-to strategy for when things get tough is to control what you can control.
If there’s one thing I can control this Easter, it’s my daughters’ Easter baskets. Today I want to share with you Easter basket ideas for preschoolers and toddlers.
My strategy this year is a little different than in years past. I’m going for lots of open ended toys and art/craft kits that will occupy my kids while we’re all at home. I’m not adding too much chocolate, because I don’t want to deal with the sugar high while we’re cooped up at home!
I also tried my best to source items from local small businesses. It’s a little less convenient that Amazon Prime, but I am so pleased that I’m able to support women-owned small businesses in my community through this difficult time.
In my town, many small businesses are doing local deliveries or curbside pick-up and it was actually more convenient than I thought to get locally sourced goods! I encourage you to do the same in your neck of the woods.

My girls love any cars or vehicles, and my youngest is particularly taken with toy cars right now. I know Hot Wheels will provide long-lasting entertainment in the months to come!
Anna and Elsa TY Dolls
Like most kids, mine were swept away by Frozen II when it hit theaters this winter. It seems like the soundtrack is on repeat at our house and the kids know every word. I know they will love the Anna and Elsa dolls from TY that they’ll be getting. (There’s also a Sven that is absolutely adorable!)I’m just not sure who should get Anna and who should get Elsa!
Melissa and Dough ABC Puzzle
As a teacher, I know it’s never to young to expose children to the alphabet. This ABC Puzzle from Melissa and Doug will provide exposure to the alphabet shapes in a fun play-based setting.
Crayola Window Cling Makers
We bought a similar Crayola kit for a cousin for last Christmas and my daughter hasn’t stopped talking about it since. I know she’ll be thrilled when she gets her very own kit this year. I’m guessing we’ll have gel forms all over the house come Easter Monday!
Fancy Nancy Books
I love Fancy Nancy books and so do my girls! My oldest loves the funny stories and empathizes with Fancy Nancy’s love of all things ornate. My youngest loves looking at the beautifully illustrated pictures in the books. I love that Fancy Nancy books are wonderful for vocabulary development.

Karen Katz books are perfect for babies and young toddlers. Their lift-the-flap style is super engaging for babies. The expressive faces of the babies featured are so cute! For Easter, we’re giving our youngest Baby Loves Springtime.

I don’t know about you, but I’m so sick of princess or fashion model dress up sets! I love that this career-focused dress up set is unisex and focused on meaningful careers instead of superfluous clothing. I want my girls to know it’s what’s inside that counts, not the way you look or the clothes you wear.

Scrunchies
The scrunchy rage has transcended adults and has sweeping even preschoolers now. My oldest is jonesin’ for a scrunchy so she’s getting her heart’s desire for Easter! I got a locally made scrunchy for my daughter, but these ones have a similar look.
Rain Gear
Rain gear is always a go-to for us at Easter time. A new rain slicker, boots and splash pants are always crowd pleasers at Easter. This year I’m debating getting a Muddy Buddy for my puddle-loving youngest this year as well.
Swimsuits
Swimsuits are another staple in my girls’ baskets. Might as well get them now and be prepared for June! I love one piece rash guards for swimming outside because they provide great sun protection!
