Moreso than nationality, parent’s education or economic success, literacy-rich home environments results in academic success. Even as few as twenty books can make an impact on a child’s academic success, and having a library of 500 can propel a child’s education on by an average of 3.2 years. A cute story about a little boy in search for a pet. This lift-the-flap book is perfect for babies and toddlers to interact during reading. An fun and engaging way to teach your child animal names and sounds. This was one of Hannah’s first books and she still loves it two and a half years later (in fact, she saw the picture while I was writing the post and we had to go on a twenty minute hunt for the book, then read it five times before I could get back to writing!).

The perfect story to build into your bedtime routine. This classic is soothing to babies and will bring back memories of your own childhood. The rhyming couplets expose baby to phonological awareness at an early age.

  1. I LOVE this!!! I think giving books over cards is wonderful. Seriously, who wouldn’t want books to add to their child’s library over a card that will probably get thrown away…I’m a book collector, can you tell! Great post!

    1. I agree they make a sweet keepsake! I am a book collector too. Though I have to admit, I do collect and keep all cards too. Maybe I’m just a hoarder???
